Privacy Policy
Side Stash is a local-first browser extension. This policy explains what information the extension handles and what it does not do.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Side Stash browser extension and its public website at sidestash.lanrenwen.com.
2. Information stored by the extension
When you choose to save something, Side Stash stores the saved item in your browser's local extension storage. Depending on what you save, an item can include:
- Selected text or link text.
- Image URLs, link URLs, and image alternative text.
- The source page title and URL.
- Creation time, pin state, and your local display preferences.
This information is stored with chrome.storage.local on your device. Side
Stash does not create an account for you and does not maintain a cloud copy of your stash.
3. How information is used
Side Stash uses stored information only to provide the features you request: displaying, searching, filtering, pinning, copying, exporting, importing, deleting, and downloading saved items.
The extension does not use saved content for advertising, profiling, analytics, or training machine-learning models.
4. Permissions
- Context menus: provide right-click save actions.
- Storage: save items and preferences locally.
- Tabs: preserve the title and URL of the page you choose to save from.
- Downloads: download images only when you request a download.
- Host access: read the selected page context needed for saving text, links, and images.
5. Network access and third parties
Side Stash does not send your saved content to a Lanrenwen Studio server. When you explicitly download an image, your browser may request that image from its original website. That request is subject to the original website's policies and your browser's network behavior.
The extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store. Chrome and Google may process data according to their own policies when you use their services.
6. Retention and deletion
Saved items remain in local browser storage until you delete them, clear the extension's data, or uninstall Side Stash. You can delete individual items, delete selected items, clear the stash, or remove imported backups from the extension.
7. Children's privacy
Side Stash is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the extension's data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a new version is published.
